Economic Empowerment Senior Advisor
Sid Boubekeur holds a Ph. D. in Economics and Management. During his carrier, respectively at United Nations for Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE) he actively managed Private Sector Development Programmes in Africa, Caribbean and Pacific, with specific focus on the development of sectors and value chains with high growth potential.
Sid has built a unique network of European and African companies and development organizations which he mobilizes for business partnerships. He actively cooperated with local financial institutions through the establishment of appropriate models for SME financing that relied on the ‘’monitoring of credit performance’’ for SMEs in order to ameliorate the pay-back rate to commercial banks and venture capital funds.
He has organized high-level business missions and investment conferences that resulted in technical and commercial partnership agreements between Africa Caribbean, Pacific (ACP) and European entrepreneurs in the agro-industry, infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology and tourism sectors. As follow-up to these events, he also mobilized African and European expertise in the fields of capacity building, feasibility studies and search for funding.
He has worked in close cooperation with numerous Chambers of commerce, investment promotion agencies, the Union of Producers and Distributors of Energy in Africa, the African Water Association and the West African Port Management Union, bringing them into sustainable partnerships with their European counterparts. Sid has been consulted by several donor missions (World Bank, African Development Bank, European Investment Bank, etc...) on sectors with growth potential and on investment opportunities in southern Africa.
